Skyryse has received approval to begin the FAA for-credit flight testing process on its Skyryse One, a Robinson R66 platform that uses the SkyOS flight operating system.

The companies announced plans to launch a next-generation safety management system (SMS) for crewed and uncrewed aircraft during this week’s Xponential in Houston, Texas.

The company will provide various avionics and component upgrades for the Japan Ministry of Defense fleet of Mitsubishi H-60s. Japan has also selected Honeywell to support its new Boeing CH-47F program across several areas, including with the T55-714A engine.

The FAA is seeking comments on this proposed airworthiness directive (AD) through Jul. 7, 2025. It would supersede AD 2019-19-13, issued Oct. 21, 2019. The new AD would authorize additional part-numbered main-rotor gearboxes; change the requirement to determine the total hours of time-in-service for a certain freewheel shaft; require repetitive replacement of the main-rotor gearbox or the right-hand freewheel shaft; modify who can replace parts; and expand the limitations for parts installation.
