One person died in the accident. VAI Daily Jan. 21, 2026 Proposed FAA AD: Leonardo AB139 and AW139 The FAA is requesting comments by Mar. 9 on this proposed airworthiness directive (AD), which would require replacement of certain life-raft inflation systems. It would also prohibit the installation of an affected inflation system on any helicopter. The addition of new Leonardo AW139s, base upgrades, and emergency trauma training workshops helped drive a 9% increase in missions flown compared with 2024, according to the operator.
