(Defense News) – Airbus U.S. Space & Defense has conducted its first demonstration as part of a program to build an unmanned version of the UH-72 Lakota transportation helicopter for the US Marine Corps.

The October 2024 safety report from the United States Helicopter Safety Team (USHST) is now available. The monthly report covers various metrics, including average accident rates and average fatal-accident rates for the past five years.

The FAA has issued a safety alert for operators (SAFO) to inform aircraft operators about safety concerns involving cargo shipments that may contain batteries, battery-powered devices, or analog or electronic timing devices in combination with flammable materials.

Atlantic Aviation has extended its concession agreement with the New York City Economic Development Corp. and the City of New York for operations at the East 34th Street Heliport in Manhattan for the next five years. As part of the agreement, Atlantic will soon begin to upgrade utility infrastructure and install charging stations at the heliport to support electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations.

The government of Nova Scotia has placed an order for four Airbus H125 helicopters to be used by the Canadian province’s Department of Natural Resources and Renewables.

Heli-One has welcomed the first aircraft from the Griffon Limited Life Extension (GLLE) program to its maintenance hangar in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Heli-One is a supplier to Bell Textron, which was awarded the $800 million contract in April 2022.
