(Edhat) – Two Santa Barbara County (California) Sheriff’s Office helicopter crews assisted fire and rescue teams with locating and airlifting a lost hiker Oct. 6 near Franklin Trail in Carpinteria.

(KCRA) – FAA and US National Transportation Safety Board data show a significant reduction in air ambulance accident fatalities during 2016–2021 compared with 2010–2015, according to the Air Medical Journal.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) report recommends that operators take the time to reassess the safety of continuing proposed mercy flights–—including rooftop rescues using untrained crews–—and consider all other alternatives before exposing crew members to additional risks.
