VAI outlines support for FAA’s eVTOL, AAM integration program VAI backs the FAA program’s focus on mission areas such as air taxi services, regional mobility, cargo operations, and emergency response. Last week, multiple states across the United States submitted applications to the FAA’s Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). The program is designed to provide a structured framework to test operational concepts, inform future standards, support infrastructure planning, and engage local communities as AAM technologies move toward operational deployment. VAI supports the eIPP for its focus on mission areas such as air taxi services, regional mobility, cargo operations, and emergency response, use cases that align with national transportation priorities and broader industry objectives. These early operational concepts are expected to generate valuable data and insights to inform the safe integration of AAM into the US National Airspace System (NAS). As the leading global voice on vertical aviation safety and operations, representing mission-driven leaders across the public and private sectors, including major eVTOL manufacturers, VAI submitted letters of support for eIPP applications from at least 10 states. These letters expressed support for collaborative efforts between governments and industry to advance safety, expand operational experience, and strengthen US leadership in emerging aviation technologies. VAI supports all submitted applications and looks forward to the FAA’s selections. AAM has the potential to enhance how people travel, how emergency responders operate, how communities access health care and essential goods, and how cargo is transported. Evaluating early AAM operations in support of community needs, multimodal connectivity, airport electrification, and resilient regional mobility will be critical to long-term success. As priorities such as airspace integration and air traffic control modernization continue to advance in the United States, VAI remains committed to working with federal, state, local, and industry stakeholders to support the safe and efficient integration of powered-lift aircraft and AAM operations into the NAS.
