VAI Member Spotlight: Spokane Stainless Technologies, Washington, USA The maker of stainless-steel products offers the M600 rotary fueling operation system and other custom products for helicopters. By Jen Boyer The roots of Spokane Stainless Technologies trace back to 1978, when it was founded as part of Spokane Industries. With an emphasis on craftsmanship and engineering excellence, it wasn’t long before the Spokane Valley, Washington–based company earned a reputation for quality in stainless-steel fabrication. As demand for high-performance, compliance-driven process solutions grew, Spokane Stainless Technologies expanded its capabilities, eventually becoming an independent entity focused entirely on producing custom stainless-steel products. Tanks for microbrewing and making wine, cosmetics, fuel, and potable water—as well as keeping gas under high pressure, and more—require high-quality materials and production for high-purity and contamination-free storage. Spokane Stainless Technologies designs and builds corrosion-resistant stainless-steel vessels, tanks, and skids for the aerospace, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, cosmetics and wellness, and industrial sectors. Off-the-Shelf Flexibility The company offers a wide selection of off-the-shelf solutions. If nothing is available for a specific application or complex process, the company’s in-house engineering team will design a custom solution. Failure isn’t an option for Spokane Stainless Technologies. Its tanks and process vessels meet American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Petroleum Institute, National Sanitation Foundation, and US Food and Drug Administration standards to ensure compliance, durability, and seamless integration. The company provides high-pressure, high-performance vessels and skids to the aviation industry for fuel storage, chemical processing, cryogenics, and high-pressure gas containment. The tanks meet FAA, US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and defense industry standards. M600 RFOS for Helicopters Spokane Stainless Technologies offers a helicopter-specific compact fueling and defueling cart, the M600 rotary fueling operation system (RFOS). Suitable for both military and civilian use, the M600 was designed to provide fast, controlled fuel transfer while minimizing spills, vapor, exposure, and contamination for rotary-wing operations. Key M600 features include defueling and sumping at rates of up to 15 gal. per minute; integrated multistage aviation-grade filtration to remove water and particulates during transfer; a sealed fueling function that reduces vapor emissions for enhancing safety and environmental compliance; and an all-terrain rugged chassis with a 35-ft. hose on an automatic rewind reel. The company engineered the M600 RFOS to operate in various environments, including everything from a standard heliport to tight landing zones with limited flight-line space.
