Texas museum draws hundreds to Girls in Aviation Day event

Presented by ExxonMobil at Lone Star Flight Museum on Saturday, Sep. 20, 2025.

HOUSTON, Texas (Oct. 7, 2025) – A record-breaking 675 future aviators and STEM leaders and their families attended Girls in Aviation Day presented by ExxonMobil at the Lone Star Flight Museum on Saturday, Sept. 20. The museum is located at 11551 Aerospace Avenue at Ellington Airport in Houston.

A total of 391 young people ages 8 to 17, were accompanied by nearly 300 scout troop and group leaders and family members for a full day of experiences, hands-on demonstrations and experiments, aircraft tours, and many other activities. Women in Aviation International launched Girls in Aviation Day in 2015 to inspire girls to consider a career in aviation and other STEM-related fields. The Lone Star Flight Museum has been hosting Girls In Aviation Day for eight consecutive years.

The incredible day of aviation and STEM discovery included:

  • STEM Activities including Drone Training and STEM Carts
  • Career & College Fair with 25 aerospace companies, schools and organizations shared the possibilities of a future in STEM and aerospace.
  • Aircraft Tours with more than 15 personal, military and historic aircraft on the ramp
  • Experiencing STEM and aviation exhibits and flight simulators
  • Luncheon and panel discussion with female leaders in STEM and aerospace.
