DRF Luftrettung to host 5th International HHO Symposium

On 10 and 11 June 2026, the DRF Luftrettung Operation Center at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport will once again become a gathering point for helicopter hoist specialists from around the world: The 5th International HHO Symposium will focus on disaster management in helicopter hoist operation, bringing together experts from hoist manufacturers, operators, and training providers to discuss the latest trends and innovations. Registration for this specialist event is still open.

The two-day symposium—combining presentations, practical demonstrations, and a compact exhibition—provides a unique opportunity for professionals from operations, OEMs, and government agencies across Europe and beyond to exchange knowledge and insights. The program covers a wide range of topics: flight operations, medical and maintenance considerations, training, safety, and communication, offering a comprehensive view of HHO. “Participants will also take a closer look at tactical procedures such as multi-ship HHO, as well as cross-organizational cooperation with other companies and authorities — including in disaster response and special operational scenarios. And of course, we will once again address the topic of next-generation hoists,” explains Sebastian Schneider, Chief Hoist Instructor. Established in 2021, the symposium has grown into a leading event in Europe. This year, the focus remains firmly on the exchange of operational experience and the continuous improvement of safety standards—guided, as always, by the overarching principle of #safehoistoperation.
