The HAI@Work webinar on Oct. 29, 2020, brought you updates on three of HAI’s Working Groups. Fly Neighborly’s chair, Juliet Page, shared key elements of the important effort to train helicopter pilots in reducing the noise of their aircraft as perceived on the ground, and discussed how the working group’s new testing data on nine aircraft models will help. Mike Benton’s working group, Flight Operations, is enjoying a heightened sense of enthusiasm among its members as they work on several challenges, including the lack of helicopter-experienced FAA inspectors. The Training Working Group is led by Terry Palmer. While they are adding maintenance training as a focus of their efforts, they are also working diligently on reducing the dangers of flight into bad weather, the dreaded IIMC.
