(WTIC) – Helicopter crews working for Eversource cleared branches and vegetation near power lines Jan. 6 in Middlesex County. The utility work is set to continue through Jan. 16.

(Alaska Public Media) – A US Coast Guard helicopter crew airlifted nine people from a sinking fishing vessel in high winds Jan. 5 near St. George Island in the Bering Sea.

(KTBC) – Travis County is moving forward with plans to purchase three new helicopters for the Shock Trauma Air Rescue (STAR) Flight program at an estimated cost of $60 million. The helicopters will replace an existing fleet of three Leonardo AW169s.

(KDKA) – A Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) crew landed at Point State Park Jan. 6 as part of security preparations for the National Football League (NFL) draft, which takes place Apr. 23–25 in Pittsburgh.

The logistics company managed the movement of two Airbus H145s from Switzerland to New Zealand, where the helicopters will conduct air medical and rescue operations across the Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, and West Coast regions of the South Island.

The company has obtained a supplemental type certificate to install its utility basket kit on the Bell 412. Wildcat Helicopters served as the launch operator for the basket on the type.

Airwolf Aerospace has received a supplemental type certificate from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) to install the lithium-ion batteries on various Airbus and Bell models, as well as the Enstrom 480B, MD 369/500, and Hiller UH-12E.

CAE will install the simulator, a fixed-base training device for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft pilots, this month at Joby’s training center in Marina, California. CAE also plans to deliver a full-motion simulator later this year.

(AirMed&Rescue) – The German air rescue operator delivered an Airbus H145 D3 to a base near Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg, completing a five-year process to equip all its bases with H135 and H145 D3 helicopters.

The latest edition of the United States Helicopter Safety Team (USHST) newsletter recognizes Tony Randall, winner of the 2025 Hugh Dryden Lifetime Achievement Award from the Flight Test Safety Committee. Randall is senior manager of flight safety at Bell and a member of the USHST Steering Committee.
