Maverick welcomes Nevada congressperson for industry insights and engagement

VAI encourages operators to engage with elected officials.

Last week, Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.-01) visited Maverick Helicopters, a member of Vertical Aviation International (VAI), to discuss key issues facing the vertical aviation industry. Workforce development, safety, training, and the critical role of air tour operators in responding to natural disasters were among the topics discussed. VAI Chief Government Affairs Officer Cade Clark accompanied the congresswoman and led discussions with the Maverick team, emphasizing the work and impact of regional helicopter operators.

As one of Nevada’s premier air tour providers, Maverick Helicopters offered Rep. Titus an inside look at the daily operations and unique challenges of the vertical aviation industry. This engagement highlighted the essential role of air tour operators in supporting the local economy and essential services, especially in rural and tourist areas.

During the tour, Clark, Rep. Titus, and Maverick’s leadership team discussed the pressing need for expanded workforce development initiatives. “The aviation industry is growing, but finding skilled and qualified professionals remains a challenge,” Clark says. “Workforce development is crucial as demand for helicopter pilots, mechanics, and support staff continues to rise alongside industry growth.”

Safety and training were also significant topics. Rep. Titus observed Maverick Helicopters’ comprehensive training programs, which ensure that pilots and crews meet rigorous safety standards. VAI, along with its members, is committed to enhancing safety protocols across the industry and to ongoing training to ensure passenger security and satisfaction.

“Maverick Helicopters exemplifies the dedication to safety that defines our industry, and we’re proud to share these practices with Congresswoman Titus,” Clark adds. Her visit underscored the importance of showcasing the industry’s high standards for training and safety.

Following this successful visit, VAI encourages other helicopter operators to engage with their elected officials. By opening their doors and providing industry insights, operators can foster understanding and advocate for policies that support workforce development, safety, training, and emergency preparedness. Hosting a tour is an invaluable way to demonstrate your company’s positive impact and help shape a legislative agenda that benefits both industry and the communities it serves.
