Rotortech makes fixed-wing audio upgrade after AW109 install

When a Cessna 525 Citation rolled up to the hangar at Rotortech Services Inc, in West Palm Beach, Florida, first glance the avionics panel looked in pretty good shape and up to date, but conversations with the pilot confirmed something was missing with complaints of “poor audio quality and unacceptable audio fidelity”.

The factory installed, analog AvTech audio system was the only choice back in the day, but by today’s standards it lacks the wow factor seen in fully digital audio management systems and missing functions desired by today’s business class pilots.
“It was time to call PS Engineering”- said Anthony Plesca, Avionics Supervisor. “After installing one of PS Engineering fully digital PAC45 audio systems in an AugstaWestland AW109 a few months ago, I knew it was the right system for the Citation and the customer would be pleased by the audio quality”- says Plesca.

Rotortech Services, Inc (www.rotortechservices.com) completed the installation of the PAC45L Audio System which included two crew CTL-L control heads, seen below, and a remote mount HUB45A digital audio router.

The CTL-L control heads have individual selections for three transceivers plus Sat Phone and PA. The HUB45A audio router has all audio connections with a simple six wire harness going to each panel mount control head.

Anthony also adds “The customer really wanted Bluetooth connectivity, XM stereo music, com audio dimensional sound (IntelliAudio) and just better audio quality. I only considered PS Engineering since they could accommodate all the needs in one package without any additional adapters or modules.”
