VAI Daily Mar. 11, 2026 USAF commanders tour helicopter facility in Maryland The US Air Force (USAF) 316th Operations Group hosted 11 honorary commanders from across the Washington, D.C., region during a Mar. 5 tour of the helicopter operations facility at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. VAI Daily Mar. 11, 2026 GE, Airbus advance next-gen helicopter propulsion study As the next stage of its global research collaboration with Airbus Helicopters, begun in 2024, GE Aerospace is focusing on detailed engine design concepts and evaluating component-level efficiencies for developing a next-generation helicopter propulsion system. VAI Daily Mar. 11, 2026 NTSB preliminary report: Bell 407, Flagstaff, Arizona, Feb. 4, 2026 The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report indicates that the helicopter, which was assisting police during a shootout, suddenly rotated, made loud noises, and crashed. Investigators found no mechanical issues or ballistic damage. The pilot and a tactical flight officer died in the accident. The accident resulted in the death of the student pilot and injuries to the instructor.
