Douglas Nelms flies west

Douglas Wayne Nelms, a Purple Heart award recipient who flew helicopters for the US Army during the Vietnam War, died Sep. 20 at age 83. Nelms was an accomplished aviation journalist and photographer, including writing for Rotor & Wing and Air Transport World magazines.
