VAI Technical & Maintenance Industry Advisory Council Toolbox Award

Because safe flight operations are a team effort, Vertical Aviation International (VAI) and the Technical and Maintenance Industry Advisory Council (IAC) are pleased to recognize vertical aviation maintenance professionals for their service to our industry. We see you, and we appreciate your work!

VAI appreciates your contribution to safe and reliable vertical aviation.  Our societies depend upon you to deliver quality maintenance-safe products in the many sectors of vertical lift aviation.  Join us in recognizing our outstanding maintenance technicians by nominating your mechanics for our VAI Maintenance Toolbox Award.  A handsome mini plaque your technician can affix to their toolbox to show their dedication to safe and quality workmanship.

AWARD CRITERIA

1. Candidates must be a member of VAI, or their company must be a current member.
2. Candidates must possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate, or the equivalent certificate or license issued by the country of residence.
3. Award levels apply to accumulated rotor wing/vertical lift total maintenance experience.  Maintenance experience with sUAS/UAS using a structured maintenance program is also acceptable.
4. Experience does not need to be with a single employer.
5. Experience with either or both military and / or type certified aircraft. 
6. No safety violations issued by the FAA or agency from country of certificate/license issue.
7. Nominated by manager.  A recommendation from a peer to manager is appropriate.
8. A demonstrated and quantifiable contribution to overall safety of maintenance operation.
9. Encouraging and positive relations with all company personnel

AWARD LEVELS*

1. 5 YEARS = Qualified Technician
2. 10 YEARS = Certified Technician
3. 15 YEARS = Expert Technician
4. 25 YEARS = Master Technician
5. 35 YEARS = Senior Technician
6. 50 YEARS = Distinguished Technician

*Nominated Technician will be credited 2 years experience for achieving IA Certification
